Hyland House, George Hyland was a sheep farmer, and the original owner , built early as 1660. This lovely old salt box
was destined to be torn down in 1916 but a group of ladies called "Dorothies" purchased and restored the house and in 1918 it was open to public.
George's grandson, Ebenezer Parmelee (1690-1777) lived here and he was shipwright and master of metal and woodworking and he built the 1727 tower clock which kept time for 165 years in the steeple of the Congregational Churchs located on the green.....that clock is on display in this house.
