Wethersfield is in Hartford Co.
The settlers of Wethersfield planted the town on a broad terrace along the "Great River" (Connecticut River), on the fertile lands in New England. In the dark red-brown soil, farmers grew a variety of crops for their tables and for trade.
Local timber was used to build the vessels that carried the
products of farm, forest, and fishery out of the river to markets along the Atlantic rim. This trade brought prosperity to farmers
merchants, and mariners here for almost 200 years.
The building was a warehouse in the early days of W.
