" Old Deerfield " cemetery, located on Old Albany Road or as it's called "Harrow's field".........this is a " town that time passed by"..............For serious Deerfield reseachers, there is a book: " Family & Landscape: Deerfield Homelots from 1671; Susan McGowan & Amelia F.Miller, Pomcumtuck Valley Memorial Association, 1996 which can be ordered through the on line Deerfield Museum Store...............this part of Deerfield, now called "OLD Deerfield" was attacked in 1704 by the French and Indians from Quebec,Canada.

Cyndy > BUTTER NUT TREE   ......when you read or hear the term "butternut brown"......this is where the early settlers got their brown coloring for their clothes.

Cyndy > This was an Indian trail from Deerfield to Stillwater, NY.....if you get a map .....and from Stillwater...it goes up to Lake Champlain then into Canada......I will try to find out more about it.

Cyndy > This house is a private home.......from what I understand is the house was actually in  Conway and moved to Deerfield....it's a saltbox that was used as a store before it was moved.....lovely old house........it's called "Clark's salt box".........were there any Clarks in Conway at an early date of say.......1750 or so ?
Cyndy > DAVID DICKINSON house.......built around 1780's......
Cyndy > OLD INDIAN HOUSE (reproduction)... ENSIGN JOHN SHELDON built the original house, 1698.....it withstood the French and Indian attack Feb.29,1704......torn down in 1848...only thing that was saved from this house is the door which is in the museum and no photographs allowed....(except the engravings)......here is a website to see the door.....
