East Hartford was part of Hartford until 1783..... so if you cannot find anyone here, check the Hartford photographs.
Many of the names in the early Connecticut towns around Hartford, you will find northward....just follow the Connecticut River....check out
the towns I have photographed.

Cyndy > EAST HARTFORD:
This part of the lands once inhabited by the Podunk Indians saw it's first permanent colonist in 1635, when Thomas Hooker and his followers came from Cambridge, Massachusetts, to found Hartford. The east side of the Connecticut River was at that time part of Hartford , and early settlers here included WILLIAM GOODWIN, THOMAS BURNHAM, AND WILLIAM PITKIN. The first petition by residents to establish a separate town was rejected by the General Assembly in 1726. Several more petitions were submitted between that year and 1783, when the Assembly at last gave it's approval to the incorporation of East Hartford.
There are NO tombstones left that date prior to 1709.

Cyndy > WILLIAM ROBERTS, died Feb.25,1797.....aged 50

Served in Revolutionary War .....fought in the first battle of
the Rev. in Lexington, Mass. April 18,1775

Cyndy > 1st Lieut., JONATHAN ROBERTS.... died April 12, 1825...aged 89.

He was a Revolutionary War veteran and served with Col. Enos' Regt.

Cyndy > JONATHAN ROBERTS, died July 7,1780....aged 18

Revolutionary War veteran, served with Col.Hinman's Regt.

Cyndy > DAVID FORBES, died the __ day of December in the 70th year of his age in the year 1729.

I just love these old stones.....

Cyndy > Three infam? (infant?) sons of Capt. Nathaniel and Mrs.Lois Hurlrup, who died October 12,1800......, aged 30 hours.
